I was born in Provo, Utah but we moved to Las Vegas before I was two years old. In sixth grade we moved to Mesa, Arizona. Yes, I am a desert mouse^^; I graduated from Mesa High and then went to Brigham Young University where I started as a history major but decided I didn’t want to teach and couldn’t think of anything else to do with a history degree, so I switched to political science. Upon graduation I realized I am no politician and probably not even a bureaucrat, but I have always loved to read and so decided to get my Masters of Library Science down at the University of Arizona. I currently live in Utah and work as a librarian. I spent eighteen months as a missionary for my church down in Campinas, Brazil. Sim, eu ainda falo portuguêse um pequeno.
I am the oldest of four sisters. Yes, we used to play Little Women in our younger years. I currently have three nephews and three nieces, all of whom are the cutest in the world. (Sorry, but they are^^;)
I am not tempted by milk or dark chocolate, cake, brownies, most cookies, or ice cream. Sadly, I cannot resist donuts, white chocolate, sugar cookies, or pies.
Stephen’s hot chocolate is the best. I particularly like French vanilla and their apple cider (not hot chocolate, I know, though their milk chocolate is good too).
I love fruit flavors, but there is nothing better than vanilla. I despise mint of all kind. I even use non-mint toothpaste.
I love breakfast. I also enjoy chicken, oriental food, and pasta. I am wary of spicy food. My parents both grew up on the east coast. Dad tells stories of his sisters bringing back cans of tortillas and refried beans from college in the west since such things did not exist where he lived. Hence, I grew up barely knowing what a taco was. On the other hand, I love good fish when I can get it and grew up having clam chowder for Christmas Eve dinner.
Happily, I am now old enough to confess that my favorite color is pink.
I like to crochet, and can knit and cross-stitch. I recently learned how to spin.
Star Wars was the first magical thing I ever saw. However, I enjoy a combination of classics (gotta love a good Carry Grant, Jimmy Stewart, or Kathrine Hepburn movie), a good adventure, fantasy, and science-fiction. I love romantic comedies, but no one seems to know how to do them any more. Maybe that is why I like classics. I also love Disney movies. The Emperor’s New Groove, Mulan, and Beauty and the Beast are my particular favorites. Tangled has also joined this list. I also love me some good superhero action.
Babylon 5 I have loved since high school. I also enjoy Star Trek (Original, Next Generation, and Enterprise) and have recently discovered Dr. Who. Yes, I want a Tardis. I also like Firefly and am currently catching up on Stargate SG1.
I confess, I love anime and manga. Some of my favorites include Card Captor Sakura, Fruits Basket, Story of Saiunkoku, and Aria. It isn’t anime, but I also greatly enjoyed Avatar: The Last Airbender.
I love to read science fiction and fantasy. I enjoy YA at least as much as I enjoy adult books in these genres, sometimes more. I also enjoy reading history and biography and classics. Yes, I <3 Mr. Darcy^^;
I have stories inside of me I am hoping to get out someday. Wish me luck!
